The day our swim spa arrives is finally here! This is a project that we have been working on for over a year. We had a lot of preparation to do to get ready for the install.

First we had to remove a tree and trim others to make room for a 31' x 20 ft concrete patio to be poured. Due to supply chain problems and just getting estimates, etc., we just got it poured a few weeks ago by Juan Castellanos Affordable Masonry of St. Augustine. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND him for any concrete work! He was very conscientious and he and his helper did an excellent job! (I will be making a video on that also very soon.)

We did a lot of research on Swim Spas and we thought we knew what we were going to get, but this swim spa became available as a pre-owned with 2 years warranty.

One of the deciding factors in our decision is we wanted to buy from a company that we felt good about, with a great reputation, and most importantly...that was local! I also preferred a brand that is American Made! I think the name says it all. There were other big name swim spas that I research and watched many videos on, but the closest dealer was in Miami and their reviews were not the best in some cases.

When we first started our search, Welton Pool & Spa of St. Augustine was actually our first stop since they were fairly close to us. The owner, Ambra Wayne, helped us decide on what we should be looking at based on what we though our needs were. She was always very helpful and never pushy. It took us over a year to actually make the purchase, and it ended up not being what we had been looking at!

When Ambra told us about this pre-owned unit, we decided to buy it sight unseen since it was quite a bit less than a brand new unit and it is in excellent condition. It was a trade the former owners were doing going to a smaller hot tub. The spa would not be delivered until their hot tub was ready for delivery. So the only thing we could see was the brochure online.

We were really taking a leap of faith on this, especially since none of us ever step foot in an actual swim spa! Ambra invited us several times to try the one in the showroom, but we never did. Since this was primarily for our son with Autism, we could never get him in the showroom. Was our swim spa was installed and set up, it took him awhile to get him in, now we have a difficult time getting him out (had to close the covers to get him out after over 3 hours)!

My wife and I got in the first night. It was surreal. We both couldn't believe we finally have a bit of paradise from a dream that started years ago. We have lived here over 20 years and I just turned 61. Wished we had done this sooner, but money had to be spent for our son's special needs.

If you are thinking about getting a pool as we were, consider these points:
[ ] Swim Spas are currently more affordable than pools
[ ] Swim Spas costs less to run and maintain (at least that’s what we’ve been told…we will see!
[ ] Swim Spas are heated, so you can use year-round vs. a pools just a few months out of the year
[ ] Swim Spas allow you to swim and exercise unlike most swimming pools
[ ] Swim Spas are very therapeutic
[ ] Swim Spas are available as small as 12ft and go to 20ft and larger
[ ] Swim Spas can be placed in smaller spaces
