Aprilia Tuono 457 Test Review

Описание: The Tuono 457 is the Naked Street fighter version of the RS 457.
It Shares most of it's major components like engine, chassis, wheels forks etc.
The only difference is the loss of faring, replaced by an Aggressive looking headlight , a side pod instead of the full faring and a wide tampered handlebar instead of the committed clip - ons handlebar.
The engine is the same but it has got 1 tooth more rear sprocket and we feel that there has been a slightl ECU re- mapping going on here although we couldn't find any conformation from Aprilia.
All this adds up to a lively performer , infact I will go as far as declaring that the Tuono 457 has the best engine in it's segment.
I will not make this bold statement if my decision is based on my experience with RS457 which we have tested previously.
The engine has become reallly smooth and refined, and the way it develops power is so much more urgent. Add this with with an upright riding position, it is quickly becoming a favorite among us.
The improvement doesn't end there.. The sintered pads gave way more bite, feel and control of the brakes now.
But, sadly all this has been let down by a crappy rear suspension .
Eventhough it has got preload adjustability it's really difficult to set it at the sweet spot to handle our potholed and gravel strewn roads.
At the end we've setteled on a compromised setting with a slightly added preload.
But, the front end is perfect, we are quite happy with the stock settings of the preload on the adjustable fork.
Overall it's quite an impressive bike, great engine, great styling, let down a little bit by the rear suspension.
Our Verdict.
Can be the best naked street fighter in the 400- 500cc segment, if it has got a better sorted rear suspension.
Although I'd like to add that we were expecting a quick shifter as standard equipment at this price point thought.
