How to remove paint from old metal hinge

Описание: Renovating an old house often involves removing years of accumulations. Often paint is added and rarely removed. And the door hinges we took of some 100+ year old doors tell the tale.
The quickest way to remove the decades old caked on paint is amazingly with water - HOT and COLD water.
The tools for the video is boiling water, a bucket of cold water, putty knife and wire brush.
First : heat the metal hinges in a pan of boiling water. Do this for 10-15 minites.
Second: using long handled pliers, carefully move hinges from the boiling water to the cold water.
Third : after the hinge has cooled down, scrape off the paint with a putty knife and old wire brush.
The transformation can be remarkable!
These old hinges were made to last more than the lifetime of the house. No sense throwing them away when these hinges have many years of service left in them once cleaned!
