Also known as Ferry Lane Level Crossing.
One of many crossings in the town of Woodbridge, Suffolk. The crossing previously had no barriers until around 2013. The two barriers were added and integrated with the current system. As a result, unlike typical half barrier crossings, the alarms stop first and the barriers raise a few seconds after. The crossing remains locally monitored and there are drivers white flashing lights to indicate the crossing is working. Located around 50 metres from this crossing is Woodbridge (Tide Mill) half barrier crossing which is linked and operates the same way and at same time with the Woodbridge (Ferry Quay) crossing. This can be seen in the video as the barriers at both crossings raise at the same time. Woodbridge station is around 50 metres in the other direction. For trains heading to Lowestoft and stopping at the station first, the train driver must exit the cab and manually activate the crossings by pressing a button on a pedestal on the station platform. Despite this crossing being officially called Ferry, there isn't actually a ferry in Woodbridge.
Both this crossing and the Woodbridge (Tile Mill) crossing are currently undergoing upgrades to convert them to full barrier crossings. This is due to increased use by pedestrians and vehicles at both crossings.
