The two Folk Song Fragments was composed in 1927 by English composer Gustav Holst, most well-known for his orchestral masterpiece The Planets. Holst never wrote much for solo piano, perhaps because of his neuritis which prevented him from playing. This tiny set of charming miniatures is "founded on tunes from North Countries Ballads".
