First, The Carlyle Group announced that it was in talks to create a joint venture with Sunoco to take over the company's Philadelphia refinery. Soon after that, Delta Airlines confirmed weeks of speculation by buying ConocoPhillips' idled plant in Trainer, Pennsylvania.
