How One Chinese Company Just Ended the TSMC–NVIDIA Monopoly

Описание: China’s semiconductor race just changed — and it’s happening without the machines the West said were essential. In this video, we break down how SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation) is challenging the global chip supply chain dominated by TSMC and NVIDIA, and what that means for the future of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and geopolitical power.

For years, TSMC controlled over 90% of the world’s most advanced chip production, while NVIDIA’s GPUs powered the entire AI revolution. Together, they formed a critical dependency chain that the global economy relies on. But after sweeping U.S. export controls in 2022, China was cut off from key technologies — including ASML’s EUV lithography machines, advanced chip design software, and high-end AI chips.

Instead of falling behind, China accelerated.

SMIC began producing 7nm chips using older DUV lithography, confirmed through the teardown of Huawei’s Mate 60 Pro. By pushing multi-patterning techniques to the limit, China proved it could still manufacture advanced semiconductors without EUV. At the same time, companies like Huawei developed domestic chip designs and AI processors, including the Ascend series, while Chinese tech giants like Baidu, Alibaba, and ByteDance built AI systems on non-NVIDIA hardware.

This video explains how China is building a fully independent semiconductor ecosystem — from raw materials like gallium and germanium, to domestic chip equipment, EDA software, and AI hardware — backed by massive state funding through the Big Fund and national industrial strategy.

We also break down the reality:
SMIC is still behind TSMC in leading-edge nodes and yield efficiency — but it doesn’t need to fully catch up to disrupt the system. By securing domestic supply and scaling production, China is reducing reliance on Western technology and reshaping the global chip industry.

This isn’t just a story about semiconductors.
It’s about technology sovereignty, AI dominance, supply chain control, and the future of global power.
