The winter wind is cold and bitter,
It is a breeze that smells like home,
It tassels my hair and chills my bones,
It is heavy in the air...
A sadness that I have known,
It feels like I am frozen in the ice of solitude,
A desperate tear falls from my eye...
Brave and struggling to get through ;

The winter rain is cold and chilling,
It chips away slowly at my soul,
The frost blooms all around my heart,
I can feel it withering and letting go,
For so long I have been sinking…
Into this trap for lonely fools,
Until only one tear remains…
Still trying to break through ;

This fate of heartache I have embraced,
This state of emptiness to which I relate,
Into this ice of passionless silence I am encased ;

With all of my love and all of my spirit,
It tries to lift me from this pain,
I know I can rise from this hollow place,
Like a phoenix from the flames,
If only I could...

This ice I could melt away ;

Even here I still have a vision...
Looking out through this crystalline glass,
Of someone who could stir my desire...
Even after all the years that have passed,
Someone who could stir my strength...
Give me some solace and relief,
To lift me up and out of this mournful trance ;

Still I understand what put me here...
It is a truth we all must eventually know,
In the end we are always alone...
Our hells are all our own,
The will and courage to go on...
Must come from somewhere inside our souls,
Because there is only so much comfort you can borrow,

The ice will fall and flow from my eyes,
