For Treg Hatcher, his ranch in southwestern Kansas means everything to him. So, when severe drought and a prairie dog invasion left him and his family on the verge of selling their 60-year-old family ranch in Syracuse, Kansas, he was devastated. But funding and assistance from the Farm Bill’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) helped turn it all around. Now, the ranch is thriving. The Farm Bill is the nation’s largest investment in the voluntary and successful conservation, restoration and management of America’s private lands including farms, ranches and forests.
