(The perfect comforting holiday dish, simplified for the busy cook!)
📝 Ingredients List
Boneless Beef Short Ribs 1 kg
Cut into large, 2-inch chunks.
Braising Sauce
Store-Bought Galbi Jjim Sauce 1 bottle (280g) Use your favorite brand!
Liquid
Water 500 ml
Adjust amount as needed to cover the meat.
Vegetables
Potatoes (Medium)2 pcs Cut into large pieces.
Sweet Potato (Medium)1 pc Cut into large pieces.
Carrot 1 pc Cut into large pieces.
Aromatics
White / Red Onion 2 pcs
Whole Garlic Head 1 pc
Dried Shiitake Mushrooms2 pcs
Rehydrate and slice.
Onion Leeks (or Scallions)Small bundle
Sliced.
Finishing/Spicy Kick
Green Chili Peppers 4 pcs
Whole or roughly sliced.
Bell Peppers (Capsicum) 2 pcs
Cut into large chunks.
Siling Labuyo (Chili)To taste
Optional for extra heat!
Meat Cleaning Mix
Sugar 1/2 cup (brown)
Ginger Slices2 pcs
Bay Leaves 2 pcs

🎬 Part 2: Easy-Step Cooking Guide
Step 1: 🛁 Clean & Prep the Beef
• Soak: Submerge boneless short ribs in cold water for 1 hour (change water once). Drain well.
• Parboil: Place drained meat in a pot with water, sugar, \frac{1}{2} of the onion (quartered), garlic, ginger, bay leaves, and peppercorns.
• Boil for 5 minutes. The sugar helps draw out impurities quickly.
• Rinse: Drain everything and rinse the meat thoroughly under cold water. This ensures a clean sauce!
Step 2: 🍲 Simmer for Flavor
• Place the cleaned meat in a large pot.
• Add the entire bottle of Galbi Sauce, the other sliced onion, leeks, and sliced shiitake mushrooms. Mix well.
• Simmer, uncovered, on medium-low heat for 10 minutes to let the meat absorb the sauce.
Step 3: ⏱️ Braise Until Tender
• Pour in 500 ml of water (or just enough to cover the meat). Bring to a simmer.
• Cover the pot and reduce heat to LOW.
• Braise for 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes until the beef is fork-tender.
Step 4: 🥕 Finish with Vegetables
• Add the potatoes, sweet potato, and carrot chunks. Stir gently.
• Optional Spicy Kick: Add the sliced siling labuyo now!
• Cook for 5 minutes (until root vegetables are slightly cooked).
• Add the bell peppers and green chili peppers.
• Cook, uncovered, for 3 more minutes until the bell peppers are tender-crisp and the potatoes are soft.
Step 5: 🍚 Serve and Enjoy!
