In this video, Ms. Kritika Sharma has explained the Drainage system of Himachal Pradesh. It is an important part of the Syllabus of the HPAS Exam.
1. Sutlej
The Sutlej is one of the major rivers of Himachal Pradesh, it originates from the Mansarovar Lake in Tibet. Sutlej in India enters Kinnaur from a place called Shipki. The Sutlej in Himachal flows mainly in Kinnaur, Bilaspur, and Shimla, then the Satluj enters Punjab.
Tributaries of Sutlej
Ali, Gambhrola, Sir Khad, Swan, Ropa, Kashang, Spiti, Bhaba, Baspa, Imla Khad, Vimala Khad.
Cities on the banks of Sutlej:- Rampur and Bilaspur.
2. Beas River
Beas originates from Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh. It enters Mandi district via Kullu, then enters Kangra. It then enters Punjab. The total length of the Beas river in Himachal Pradesh is 256 km. Mandi Nagar of Himachal is situated on the banks of Vyas.

Parvati, Malana Nala, Fozal, Sarwari, Uhal, Luni, Hansa Tirthan, Bakhali, Jyuni, Suketi, Son, Kunah, Maan, Binwa, Nyogal, Baner, Gaja, Chakki.
3. Chenab
Chenab originates from the Lahaul-Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh. Actually, Chenab is formed by the joining of two rivers called Chandra and Bhaga. The rivers Chandra and Bhaga form Chenab at a place called Tandi. After leaving Lahaul-Spiti, Chenab enters Jammu and Kashmir via Chamba. The total length of the Chenab River in Himachal Pradesh is 122 km.

4. Ravi
The Ravi river originates from the "Bada Bhangal" in the Dhauladhar mountain range of Himachal (Multan tehsil of Kangra district). Chamba Nagar is situated on the banks of Ravi. In Sanskrit, Ravi is named Iravati while its Vedic name is Purusha. The total length of the Ravi river in Himachal Pradesh is 158 km.

Cities inhabited by Ravi
Chamba.
5. Yamuna
The Yamuna originates from Yamunotri Glacier in Uttarakhand. Enters Haryana via Ponta Sahib and Tajewal in Himachal. The Vedic name of river Yamuna is Kalindi.

Pabbar, Tons, Bata, Giri.
Cities inhabited by Ravi
Paonta Sahib.
