Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in todays video I want to help you to choose the right vitamin c type for your skincare routine. The differences between Ascorbic Acid and Vitamin C Derivatives and how they work on your skin. The Ordinary Vitamin C Serums explained and helping you to perfect your skincare routine.

When it comes to choosing a vitamin c serum for face and skincare routine it can be a challenge with so many different types on offer all offering different things for the skin. The Ordinary have many vitamin c serums to choose from so I use these to explain the differences in order to help you choose the right one for your skincare routine.

Ascorbic Acid - The direct form of vitamin c which will give the quickest results and requires no conversion in the skin. This direct vitamin c form is one of the most sensitising and can cause redness and irritation in the skin so is something which should be taken account of. I would consider packaging closely with this form of vitamin c to prevent oxidation and also make sure you choose the right concentration for your skins needs.

Ethyl Ascorbic Acid - This is a stabilised form of Ascorbic Acid which will give you all the results of pure form vitamin c with a longer shelf life and less risk of oxidation which is a huge plus and I think this will become on of the most popular versions of vitamin c in skincare

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate - A vitamin c derivative which will help with brightening the skin and fading hyperpigmentation but with less irritation on the skin than Ascorbic Acid. It will take longer to see the results with this derivative but its more gentle for sensitive skin. There is some discussion about how much antioxidant protection you get with this derivative so I would recommend using it alongside another antioxidant for the best protection.

Ascorbyl Glucoside - My favourite derivative which will give you the best glow up and fade hyperpigmentation relatively quickly. Again this does not have proven antioxidant benefit so use alongside another for the best results.
