Top ten attractions you don't want to miss at Myakka River State Park. Located in Sarasota, Florida just an hour southeast of Tampa is one of is one of Florida's oldest and largest state parks.

In episode three of a five-part series, we begin counting down the park's top ten hiking attractions. Although Florida is known for amazing sunrise and sunsets over pristine beaches, witnessing the timeless beauty of a new day dawning or coming to a close from a majestic wilderness area can't beat.
Episode three takes to the north end of the park, where the food and fun are had.
coming in at #5 is the Weir. This is the place were the gators bask in the sun. About 300 yards from the restaurant the Pink Alligator Cafe which is our #6 pick. If you want a great burger or ice-cream this is the place to go. You can also find many souvenirs here. You can also find souvenirs in the Friends of Myakka gift shop located at the ranger station at the park entrance.

Birdwatchers are in for a treat when strolling along the birding boardwalk at the end of Myakka Upper Lake. Roseate Spoonbills, White Ibis, Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, and Black Vultures are just a few of the birds that can be seen throughout the park.
There is so much to enjoy at the park. It is one of Wes and I favorite go to for a great weekend. Come on out and say hello.
