Dry Fruit Katli is a rich, nutritious Indian sweet made from a blend of assorted dry fruits and natural sweeteners like dates or figs. Unlike traditional mithai that uses sugar or flour, dry fruit katli is typically free from refined sugar, making it a healthier dessert option. This katli is soft, chewy, and naturally sweet, with a nutty crunch from ingredients like almonds, cashews, pistachios, and walnuts, but with more texture and depth from the mixed nuts.

Here’s a simple and delicious Dry Fruit Katli recipe


Ingredients
You can adjust the dry fruits based on preference:
1 cup dates (seedless, soft)
½ cup almonds
½ cup cashews
¼ cup pumkin seeds
¼ cup walnuts
¼ cup flex Seeds
1 tbsp ghee (for greasing and cooking)
¼ tsp cardamom powder
Optional: saffron strands or rose water (for aroma)

Prep the Ingredients
Chop the dates roughly.
Dry roast each dry fruit (almonds, cashews, pistachios, walnuts) separately for 2-3 minutes on low flame. Let them cool.
Coarsely grind the dry fruits in a Chopper (do not over-grind into paste).
Grind the dates separately into a thick paste.
Cook the Mixture
Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a non-stick or heavy pan.
Add the date paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it softens.
Add ground dry fruit mixture and cardamom powder.
Mix well and cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes until the mixture combines and leaves the sides of the pan.
Shape the Katli
Grease a parchment sheet or plate with ghee.
Transfer the warm mixture and flatten it using a rolling pin to ¼ inch thickness.
Let it cool slightly (but not fully).
Cut into diamond or square shapes.

Tips
Use soft Medjool dates for easier grinding.
Add chopped figs or raisins for more texture.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks at room temp (or refrigerate).
