The Supermarine Spitfire was one of the most famous British fighter aircraft of World War II. Known for its elegant elliptical wings and powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, it combined speed, agility, and firepower. The Spitfire played a crucial role in the Battle of Britain in 1940, helping defend the United Kingdom from German Luftwaffe attacks. The Hawker Hurricane was the backbone of the Royal Air Force’s fighter force during the early years of World War II.
