THOUSANDS of people headed to the Showgrounds Event Centre during the weekend to the Gisborne Home and Lifestyle Expo. Expo manager Andy Searle said the annual event was very successful, with between 7000 and 8000 attending — more than last year. “It was great. Exhibitors from out of town told us they did really well — even better than the Napier and Taupo shows they had been to.

“It was also great to see lots of local businesses.” Many of the local tradespeople and businesses said they had generated a lot of business during the two-day event. Others said it was good to be there to fly the flag and catch up with clients old and new. Out-of-town exhibitors said they loved coming to Gisborne. “They say the people are so friendly — they engage.”
