Attack on two junior doctors in NRS Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata has inflamed the doctors of this country. They are taking out protest marches and rallies in solidarity with the doctors of NRSMCH. Many hospitals have gone on strike and refused to see the patients.
The Indian Medical Association issued a nationwide call to observe protest on Friday. Therefore, a large number of hospitals remained closed on the day and doctors did not turn up to see the patients.
Doctors in All India Institute of Medical Sciences also went on strike on Friday to express their solidarity with their coworkers in NRSMCH. On Saturday, they resumed their work after the issued an ultimatum of forty-eight hours to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee to meet the demands of protesting doctors failing to which will result into restoration of an indefinite strike.
Meanwhile, more than 500 doctors have resigned condemning Mamta Banjee government for failing to meet the demands of protesting doctors. They are demanding to increase security forces in hospitals and take legal actions against those who attack on them.
