You know, we had to go through what we had to go for to finally get the district attorney's office to cough up the documents to show that the district attorneys were cheating in this case. And it took us all those years to do that. It is wrong. We are committed to write those wrongs, and we hope that by doing so, maybe in the future district attorneys won't do that stuff.”

STORYLINE:
A judge did not issue a decision to grant bail for former death row prisoner Richard Glossip, who has claimed his innocence over a 1997 murder.

Judge Natalie Mai will review the evidence from the case and will later decide whether Glossip will be granted a bond and released while awaiting a new trial.

“We're deeply grateful for Judge Mai and she really gave a lot of thought and listen to everything that was being said to her, and she obviously is a smart and thoughtful judge, and she gave everybody an opportunity to have their say,” Glossip’s attorney Don Knight said to reporters after Thursday’s hearing. “We think this is the first opportunity Mr. Glossip has in 29 years to make, to get a bond, and we’re looking forward to that day when he can hopefully get a bond.”

In 2025 the U.S. Supreme Court threw out the murder conviction and death penalty for Glossip but he has remained jailed, and the state has decided to try him again for murder.

Glossip was convicted and sentenced to death in the killing of Barry Van Treese, who owned the motel where he was beaten to death with a baseball bat, in what prosecutors have alleged was a murder-for-hire scheme. Glossip was an employee.
