Описание: “Hayfield” is a film about the development of new nature in the Binnenveld. Directors: Melchert Meijer zu Schlochtern, Luc Enting, and Harald van de Sanden.
The Binnenveld is an agricultural area located between Wageningen, Ede, Veenendaal, and Rhenen, where large parts have been converted into a nature reserve since 2018. Due to its unique location, the area was once the most flower- and butterfly-rich region in the Netherlands, but modernization in agriculture transformed the meadows into vast uniform grasslands with limited biodiversity. Through a special collaboration among farmers, residents, Staatsbosbeheer (the Dutch forestry organization), and government authorities, a plan emerged to restore the unique original hayfields. Between 2018 and 2022, the nutrient-rich top layer of the meadows was removed. Part of the original Kromme Eem stream was also restored. This resulted in a connected nature reserve of approximately 530 hectares, allowing nature the opportunity to start afresh. The film shows the area’s development over the past five years, including the species that have returned. The film was in the cinema in november and december 2023. In January 2024 it was broadcasted on Dutch television on NPO2.
