Gottlieb System 1 Driver Board Bench Tester Overview
While I do have a few System 1 games, CountDown, Sinbad, and my favorite, Genie, I needed to be sure that every lamp and solenoid circuit is being tested when I repair boards.
I had been wanting to build a rig for this for a long time and finally invested a couple of days here and there to design the system, select the Arduino, build the harnesses, build the PCB prototypes, wire everything together without causing smoke to come out, and finally, write the software for the Arduino Mega 2340 to drive the whole thing. I haven't forgotten much about programming in the numerous intervening years between school, professional programming, and now. Still, I sometimes drop a semi-color or swap a comma for a semi-colon. Argh.
I'm attempting to learn a couple of PCB design software packages (KiCad, EagleCad). These prototype boards will be "professionalized" as leaning project for PCB software.
