UPDATE: Kittanning police said in a Facebook post on Monday evening that a male juvenile has been charged in this incident and is currently being detained.
Police said they have no indication that anyone else had participated in the fires, and the juvenile acted alone.
A fire official said there is definitely an arson on the list after four fires broke out in Kittanning, Armstrong County, on Monday morning.

Four fires were set in the same area, with two on Hawthorne Avenue, which runs parallel to Woodward Avenue, where the two other fires were set. Two of the four homes were vacant.

Second assistant fire chief at the Kittanning Hose Company Mike Swartz, who lives in the middle of the neighborhood where the fires are set, said he woke to a neighbor banging on his door. While he began calling crews to the scene, reports of more fires came in.

No injuries were reported in any of the fires, through one woman was displaced from one of the structures. The woman's four cats died in the fire.

According to the Kittanning Hose Company fire Chief Earl Kline, there was an arson June 27, just a few blocks from Monday's fires. He says three teenagers were captured on a doorbell camera, and they are the likely suspects.

"Anybody that's setting fires don't realize how much danger they put firefighters, residents and everybody in jeopardy. It boggles my mind," said Kline. "I will tell you that we will put every effort into finding who it is."

Kittanning police ask anyone in the area who saw anything or has video to give them a call.
