CEC Recommends Tiger Reserve In Goa, Remains Silent on Mhadei

Описание: NGO Goa Foundation has informed that Central Empowered Committee (CEC) has recommended the establishment of a Tiger Reserve in Goa, rejecting objections raised by the state government. The committee has suggested that the reserve be implemented in two phases to ensure a structured approach.

“In the first phase, Netravali and Cotigao are to be notified as core areas, which will merge with the core area of the Kali Tiger Reserve. In the second phase, the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park are to be notified as buffer zones, maintaining alignment with the continuous buffer of the Kali Tiger Reserve. The recommendation, made in consultation with the Goa Foundation, marks a significant step toward strengthening wildlife conservation in the state and protecting its rich biodiversity,” Goa Foundation said

However, CEC has remained silent on Mhadei as part of either the core or buffer of the proposed Tiger Reserve; the report will now go to the Supreme Court for final order on 15.12.2025 : Goa Foundation
