The supramental consciousness unites all movement and action in its divine consciousness; it permeates the atmosphere around and transforms, harmonizes, and brings all into a single and yet multitudinous movement of divine being. This supramental consciousness was established on earth in 1956 and is progressively transforming the earth nature, but it is eternally existent and fully manifest in its own plane of being. Sri Aurobindo’s and the Mother’s mission was to establish a firm link between that plane and our material earthly plane of existence through their own realization. In this realization there were two complementary movements, one an ascent of their consciousness to the supramental level and the second a bringing down of its divine light, power and bliss into the mind and life and body. It was first necessary to ascend to these levels and clearly see and know the Supermind in its own nature and in its own divine realms of being before the descent of its powers was possible. This presentation examines a passage from Savitri which depicts Aswapati’s vision and experience of the worlds of the Supermind; it is there that he will afterwards encounter and implore the supramental Divine Mother to incarnate on earth and establish a divine life here.
