Join me as I try two popular jump saddles to see which one could be a better fit for my Connemara! Connies are notoriously hard to fit but I was really impressed with one of them.
DISCLAIMER I am not a saddler and this is not saddle fitting advice. Saddle fitting is a complex topic and there are many more things I could have mentioned. Just sharing my first impressions and a couple of things I look for in a saddle.
Kent and Masters Pony Jump
A jump saddle for ponies, the S-Series Pony Jump has forward-cut flaps, plus moveable blocks, designed to support the young rider’s leg in the shorter jumping position. This may look similar to the S-Series Jump saddle, but it is on a different tree - more suited to a pony conformation - and takes a different gullet bar.

GFS Monarch Cob Jump
The Monarch Cob jumping saddle is a forward-cut saddle and the channel through the middle of the saddle offers clearance on either side of the spine especially suited to a wider horse. The panel is designed to be slightly less angular allowing for a better load-bearing surface across the horses back.
