Two legends of steam take on one of the West Countrys toughest climbs. GWR 7029 Clun Castle and LMS 45596 Bahamas worked together to haul their train up Hemerdon providing a rare and spectacular display of double-headed main line steam. Starting from the early hours of the morning The mayflower departed Birmingham New Street at 6:00 headed for Plymouth. It powered up the West Country banks without a problem with 37410 & 37240 running behind just in case. the mayflower arrived at Plymouth 13:10 with the 37s arriving just a bit after it.

The sight of Castle and Jubilee power side by side on Great Western territory is unforgettable a true highlight for steam enthusiasts and a reminder of the golden age of express locomotives.
