2024 is shaping up to be another stellar year for electric urban mobility, as plenty of companies operating in this sector have unveiled intriguing electric two-wheelers that are slated to be released next year and promise a near future where sustainability, state-of-the-art technology, and performance converge.

One of the most exciting electric two-wheelers expected to make it to the market in 2024 is the Naxeon I AM. After two years of development, Chinese e-mobility startup Naxeon finally unveiled this abstractly named compact electric motorcycle at this year's EICMA show.

Despite its urban mini-bike looks, the Naxeon I AM is a high-speed e-moto classified in the 125 equivalent category. It rides on 17-inch wheels and is powered by an electric motor integrated into the hub of the rear wheel and capable of outputting 10 kW of power and 273 Nm of torque. This allows it to reach a top speed of 120 kph and sprint from 0 to 50 kph in 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 80 kph in 6.5 seconds. This impressive performance puts it among the most capable e-bikes in the 125 segment.

The electric motor is fed by a semi-solid-state battery that offers both better energy density and greater charging speed compared to conventional batteries. Buyers will be able to choose between either a 4.3 kWh or 6.5 kWh battery, with respective maximum ranges of 120 and 180 km per charge, which makes it suitable for daily commutes. Moreover, thanks to the integrated fast charger with a Type 2 socket, the Naxeon I AM will charge from 20 to 80 percent in just 90 minutes.

As the company explains on its website, this is "not just a mode of transportation, it is a design masterpiece. Featuring state-of-the-art technology to keep you connected and safe on the road, I AM's aesthetic has been developed to create an unprecedented statement in urban mobility" and "every line and curve has been meticulously crafted for maximum aerodynamics and visual appeal."

Speaking of aesthetics, the electric two-wheeler boasts a distinctly clean design with sleek lines and an LED signature stripe on the side. It also features LED front and rear lights, cameras at the front and rear, and a 7-inch color touch screen that displays the usual info plus what the cameras are recording.

On the technology front, other noteworthy features include NXN Domain Controller, NIS (NAXEON Interaction System), OTA functionalities, ABS, TCS, Self-developed Suspension System, keyless ignition, and more.

Naxeon was founded in 2021 in ChongQing by the former president of Lifan, an established Chinese motorcycle and automobile manufacturer. The I AM is their first electric motorcycle, and the team has developed it with global availability in mind. As such, they struck a partnership with Milanese company E-Quilibrium, to open the door to the European market for them.

The startup has already signed distribution agreements in France and Belgium, with Germany to follow soon. This means the I AM electric mini-bike is expected to be made available in these countries in the spring of 2024. Priced at 7,400 euros, which translates to approximately $7,971, the Naxeon I AM will be surprisingly affordable considering everything it has to offer.
