Slot Cars Tyco vs Lifelike: Model Railroad & Slot Car HO Racing Layout: Slot Cars in video: Chevy Monte Carlo Corn Flakes NASCAR #5 (Tyco Magnum 440 X2) vs Ford Thunderbird NASCAR #6 Valvoline (Lifelike Fast Tracker T Chassis).
HO Scale Trains in video: Great Northern Railway F7 A&B EMD diesel locomotive engines (Athearn old vers.) and nine Great Northern passenger cars that were used on the Empire Builder passenger train (Walthers).
These slot cars were fun to run around the track; they mostly stayed on the track very well. In practice they needed to be driven at lower speed on curves. The slot cars had nice range of speeds on the Parma controllers, so they could be throttle responsive to go slow through the curves and also sprint on straightaways. There were crashes at the squeeze track where both were disabled and each knocked off the other. We do more like "road rally" than race, like the rally races to drive to control the car, and winning is to keep going, and skillful throttle control to stay on road the most, not go off and hit the wall or worse, go on the floor.
Video is not at all in order or continuous, the one camera on a tripod was moved around various (10) view angles during the race and the clips were edited and intermingled.
Note that these two slot cars are some of our oldest. These cars were used a whole lot when we had only six, then were used less when we had 12 cars and so on. Now with sixty slot vehicles they are used occasionally. Slot cars seem to be a durable hobby.
