Описание: The first de Havilland DH.84 Dragon arrived in Canada in 1934 and the first DH.89 Dragon Rapide arrived in a year later. Of the latter, 16 were assembled and operated in Canada by companies including Canadian Pacific Airways, Quebec Airways, and the Globe & Mail. On wheels, skis, and floats, these aircraft were an economical and relatively safe way to fly in the 1930s and 40s until post-war, purpose-designed aircraft like the DHC-2 Beaver and DHC-3 Otter mastered the bush, and regional airlines adopted newer designs. CAHS Ottawa member John Crook tells the story of the de Havilland DH.84 Dragons and DH.89 Dragon Rapides in Canada. Originally presented to the CAHS Ottawa Chapter on March 28, 2024.
