The program opens with the Prelude to the first cello suite, BWV 1007, a piece that ascends with a dazzling, celestial effect. Next, the spirited BWV 1060 double harpsichord concerto in C minor transports us to the lively social gatherings of 18th century Leipzig. The poignant "Ich habe genug", BWV 82, explores themes of earthly weariness and divine longing, creating a deeply moving experience. The concert concludes with Bach's Concerto for Two Violins in D minor, BWV 1043, a vibrant and intricate display of Bach’s love for Italian concerti.
