In this video I make a box to house my surface plate. My shop can get messy and this will help keep the plate from getting beat up from just sitting around. To start, I took some rough walnut and milled it down. I then cut in grooves for the top and bottom plywood panels. After that, I cut rabbets followed by dovetails. After assembling the box I cut it in half. This allows for a perfectly fitting lid. I followed that with handles and finish work. The plate is held in with some high strength tape and wedges.
