(22 Sep 1994) As part of the massive u.s. military Operation Restore Democracy
to Haiti, American troops appear to have taken over most of the
strategic points in Port au Prince including the military base.
U.S. troops also continue to patrol Haitian streets and slums to
prevent violence.
