Crown Range - There Was A Reason For All The Sirens And Emergency Vehicles

Описание: We pass a recent accident on the Crown Range Road as we ride from the Cardrona Hotel on our way to Te Anau on the third full riding day on our South Island tour filmed in February of this year.

While we were relaxing at the Cardrona Hotel we heard a number of sirens and emergency vehicles rushing along Cardrona Valley Road and up into the Crown Range. A little while later when we left the hotel we came across the accident scene with emergency services in attendance and the vehicles moved to the side of the road and it was possible to pass by and carry on our journey. We hope those involved are recovering well. After getting into Queenstown we refuelled and then headed along the 'Devils Staircase' enjoying spectacular views with the mountains looking amazing and Lake Wakatipu in fine form. We took a small refreshment stop at the Five Rivers Cafe before arriving in Te Anau soon after 3pm completing our roughly 370km ride from Haast.

We will pick it up next week as we head out from Te Anau in the early morning for a quick ride up to Milford Sound repeating a trip we made there in April '24 but this time with considerably less snow.
