I recently had a very interesting visit to the Central Florida Fair and one of the highlights was a visit to this wonderful pop-up event known as The Blockbuster Experience.

Presented by Sandi Harding, general manager of the the final Blockbuster store in existence (located in Bend, OR), this event is small but mighty in the presentation of the heydays of the video rental era.

Featuring authentic scavenged pieces from closed Blockbusters, we take a brief tour through what they have to offer, from movie props to dozens of movies legitimately available for sale. We also have a chat with Sandi herself and her thoughts on the event and the enduring legacy of this 90's culture powerhouse.

For myself, as a former employee of Blockbuster's arch-rival, the fully extinct Hollywood Video (a fact I mention ad nauseum in the video) this was a surreal and highly effective experience.

So hey, it's Friday night in the mid 90's. Lets go pick out some movies, get some snacks and have a fun movie night! Just make sure it's back to the store within 4 days or you'll incur late fees ;)


Admission into the "store" at the fair was $5 and all attendees received a complimentary (but temporary) "employee vest" to wear while inside (must be returned upon exit)
