My failed attempt to ride to Argentina

I just finished about 2-weeks and 2k miles of travel by motorcycle in an attempt to see if I could make it to Argentina on a bike.
it turns out I need a lot more preparation before I can make that journey.
the wind and cold kicked my BUTT.

My failure boiled down to 2 things.
1) my lack of confidence in being able to diagnose and fix my current bike in the middle of nowhere by myself (I had SO many problems with the bike along the way it really hammered into me how insecure I am in my engine knowledge) and 2) the fact that I just flung myself at this huge journey without proper preparation and without being willing to pay more for a more sustainable journey (ie, a hotel room here and there instead of just camping).

But... there is hope.

I can learn more about fixing a bike.

And I can more properly prepare and envision this journey now that I have done the first hard part... getting my butt out the door.

I have been struggling with creating.

I have not wanted to shoot / been apathetic about doing the work part of creating my own videos. This video above is me just BARELY taking my cameras out over the course of that 2k mile amazingly challenging and yet wonderful and beautiful trip...

Long story short, I pushed myself to do something new and I failed really hard in being able to bring that dream or idea to completion. Accepting this, my failure, was really, really hard at first.
The classic feeling of failure being a purely NEGATIVE thing characterized my mood and consequent outlook on life for a while.

Now, after a few days rest, I have had time to reflect on why I wanted to do something as crazy as ride my motorcycle to Argentina. The reasons are still there. And, now there are strong experiential lessons to pull from to prepare for a second try...

That's right, I want to do it again.

I am selling the bike I have right now, flying back to family, going to work manual labor for a friend for a month or so while thinking about my next moves.

I am already thinking about how I can take steps toward preparing for my second attempt at this crazy ride. Step 1, learn more about fixing my own bike. Step 2, make a real plan that includes content creation and travel using more hotels (I camped almost the entire 2k mile journey and that killed me).

Should you still be here?

All this being said, I want to make sure you all understand that I will not be creating as regularly as I was in the van days. I still want to shoot and edit videos I just do not have a plan for what those could be on a regular basis for the next few months.

At the end of the day... what I daydream about still consists of ways to shoot and edit and create videos of various types... I still want to create and I still want to push myself down this weird road I seem to be treading.

I will still be back. It could be in two weeks or two months. But I am not gone forever.
