My first metal print on the DED machine at school (Philips Hybrid machine with Meltio print head). When I say "first" I mean the first metal print I've been involved with right from the beginning of the toolpath design!
I've worked with powder metal printing before (DMLM) at my old job, but most of that work was related to print setup or toolpath generation with guidance of others on the team.
This video shows a 3 plate print that will be used for cutting dog bone samples out of and exploring the tensile strength of 17-4 PH SS printed at 1000W and 0.03" later height. We are also curious about the anisotropy that exists in these plates with respect to their build orientation. Stay tuned for results!
