Today, thanks to the dedicated conservation efforts of organizations like Sahara Conservation, the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, and the Chadian government, this incredible species has returned to its native habitat. Over the years, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center has proudly contributed to this success in several key ways:
▪️ We've maintained a dedicated breeding program for the scimitar-horned oryx, welcoming numerous calves each year.
▪️ We've contributed animals to the "World Herd"—a genetically diverse group assembled specifically for reintroduction into the wild.
▪️ We've supported conservation through research and innovation, including testing GPS tracking collars on our herd to ensure their safety and effectiveness for wild deployment.
▪️ Our talented staff, like Ben, have lent their expertise on the ground in Chad—helping with collaring and release efforts that continue to this day.
