Power Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar stated that the coalition government is committed to protecting consumers from additional financial burdens. The government highlighted that during the previous YSRCP regime, electricity charges were revised multiple times through True-Up charges, creating uncertainty among consumers. After coming to power, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu introduced the True-Down mechanism aimed at reducing costs rather than increasing them. In a landmark move, Andhra Pradesh became the first state in the country to reduce electricity tariffs by 13 paise per unit. The government has also assured farmers that the 9-hour free power supply scheme will continue uninterrupted for the next five years, with a focus on providing quality power. The coalition government has reportedly streamlined the power sector by addressing pending liabilities left with power distribution companies and providing budgetary support to strengthen the electricity ecosystem. The administration claims that within two years, the power sector has returned to a profitable path under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The government is also focusing on expanding power generation capacity and reducing dependence on costly power purchases from other states. As part of its long-term vision, Andhra Pradesh is working towards establishing 160 GW of Green Energy projects. Additionally, under the Central Government's PM Surya Ghar scheme, 6 lakh rooftop solar installations are being planned for SC and ST families across the state, helping move Andhra Pradesh toward energy self-sufficiency.
