Anna Akana is an Asian American comedian, musician, actress, and filmmaker who has struggled with depression and anxiety since the death of her 13-year-old sister by suicide. Asian Americans are the least likely demographic to seek mental health help in the US, with Asian American women having the 2nd highest suicide rate. She shares her experience with the culture of shame and silence surrounding mental health in the Asian American community.
