18. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Mathias Nahuel Castañeda, performer at Fort Bravo:
“We want them to be as calm as possible. There are lots of people, lots of children, gunshots. As for the sounds, we always start very far away from them, at a distance. Keep in mind that our blank firing is very loud, and not all animals handle noise well. So when it comes to pistols, we always stay well away from them, we start little by little with the shots, we see how they react, lots of calm, no nerves. We gradually move closer, so they can slowly take in what they’re going to encounter when the day of the horse’s debut in the show arrives.”

"There are moments where you find one (horse) that always goes with you. If you find that (horse), it's amazing because you can forget everything. In terms of my work, you forget it. You're on top of him, but it's as though you're one. Everything flows almost too well. It shouldn't be real, but it is... it is."

25. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Mathias Nahuel Castañeda, performer at Fort Bravo:
"It's true there's a different connection with these animals, compared to a dog, a cat or whatever else. It's pretty different. I don't know how to explain it but there's something, and not with all horses, in my opinion, from what I've experienced here. I had a horse here that I couldn't bear not to see. I came to work here and I felt very safe with him and if we had to do something, I wanted it to be with him. He understood me, corrected me...he saved me more than once. It's different. Horses are special."
