Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is my first Ys game, and after finally playing it, I can see why this series has such a passionate fanbase. With fast-paced action combat, a mysterious island setting, and one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in a JRPG, this game had me hooked.
This review breaks down my first impressions of the Ys series, and why Ys VIII might just be the perfect entry point for newcomers like me.
