This interview of Zafrullah Chowdhury was jointly conducted by my colleague and friend Dr. Khadimul Islam and me, sometime in the first half of 2014, for daily New Age. An excerpt of this audio-recorded interview was published on December 16, 2014, to coincide with the country's victory day in the New Age, under the title, "Mujib Bahini didn't fight liberation war."
In this interview, Zafrullah Chowdhury—an organizer of Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War—speaks frankly about several untold stories of the war. He discusses his role in establishing a field hospital for the freedom fighters, the Mujib Bahini, the controversy over the number of war martyrs, the secret agreement between India and Bangladesh's exile government, and why and how M.A.G. Osmany was prevented from attending the surrender occasion of the Pakistani army to the Indian army.
