Today we are exploring the F.P. Journey Octa Automatique Reserve. Released in 2001, the Octa series was the first series of automatic watches produced by F.P. Journe. This particular 40mm piece features a rose gold case has significant wrist presence. From lug to lug, it measures 48mm. It has impressive stance and character, while also sliding easily under a tight dress cuff. It measures 10.5mm thick.

Hallmarks include the international 750 stamp, the Swiss St. Bernard with G stamped on it, and hallmarking stamps of France and Switzerland. It has sensuous and complex lugs that slope on the side and blend seamlessly into the side of the case.

The dial features both traditional and avant-garde elements. It features blued hands, a silver base, a railroad track outboard, and guilloche. This piece bears hallmarks of pocket watch manufacturers, including scattered complications across the dial. The dial features sunken off center seconds, a power reserve indicator, and double-digit date. There is also a quick set function for the date and is actuated at the second crown position.

An exhibition caseback covers a manufacturer caliber 37.3. It is a free sprung balance and has 5 days of power reserve. You can easily see the train carrying power throughout the piece.
