The Green Dot on Your Samsung Phone: What It Means & How to Control It
Video Description:
Noticed a small green or orange dot in the top right corner of your Samsung Galaxy phone? Don't be alarmed! This is an important privacy feature, not a glitch.
In this video, I'll explain exactly what the green dot (and orange dot) means on your Samsung Galaxy S23, S24, Z Flip, Z Fold, A-series, and more. You'll learn how to check which app is using your camera or microphone and how to manage your permissions for better privacy.

What the Dots Mean:
Green Dot: This means an app is currently using your camera. Examples: You're taking a photo, using a video call on Zoom, or scanning a QR code.
Orange Dot (or Yellow Dot): This means an app is currently using your microphone. Examples: You're on a phone call, recording a voice memo, or using voice search.
How to See Which App is Using It:
Swipe down from the top of your screen to open your Quick Settings panel.
Look for the dot! You will see the green or orange icon active there.
Tap on the dot itself. This will open a detailed menu showing you exactly which app is currently accessing your camera or microphone.
This is a built-in privacy indicator required by modern Android systems (starting with Android 12) to protect you from apps spying on you without your knowledge. You cannot permanently disable it, and that's a good thing for your security!
If you see the dot when you shouldn't, use the steps above to find the app and revoke its camera or microphone permissions in Settings.
