In this video we visit the famous Llyn Clywedog, the venue for many Fly Fishing Tournaments here in Wales, UK. I am joined by my Uncle Michael Hartlebury and my friend and co-host Ken Browning. We go about our day there a little differently to most of the anglers that visit Llyn Clywedog and utilise light rods and Dry Fly Tactics, namely the Foam Coch y Bonddu Beetle pattern that we have had a lot of success with on Welsh Upland Lakes like this one. The pattern was the star of the day and in the capable hands of my Uncle proved deadly, taking several fish.
My Uncle did infact teach me how to fly fish on the River Vyrnwy, many many years ago and he also taught me how to tie flies. The first fly I tied was a Daiwl Bach, as my Uncle had had a lot of success at Ellerdine Lakes in Shropshire with them. It is fair to say that without my Uncles knowledge, this channel would most likely not exist at all. So I hope my viewership welcome him to the show wholeheartedly.
Llyn Clywedog is a large reservoir that was a result of building a dam near Llanidloes on the upper River Severn and is an extremely well managed venue with regular stocking and good facilities such as a decently stocked tackleshop. It allows fishing from its outboard motor driven fleet of boats and from those you can access more of the lake, but it also has a good reputation for good fishing from the bank, which we will hopefully demonstrate.
The flies used during the session if filmed:

Quilled Tan UV Buzzer - • Quilled Tan UV Buzzer
Tournament Cats Whisker - • Mini/Tournament Cats Whisker
