Описание: In this episode i recreate the 1942 Mocha Torte using Fannie Farmer's original recipe, bringing to life the flavours of a time when creativity and resilience shined during tough time. This cake would have been a luxury for the select few in 1942 Britain and Europe due to rationing and product shortages. The recipe called for 4 eggs! That was a 4 week rationing of eggs per person.
Once the cake is ready, I share it with my grandmother as we chat about her childhood memories of food, family, and life during the 1940s.We reflect on the simple joys that brought comfort and happiness during hard times and the importance of resilience and finding beauty in the little things.
