Описание: This set of video lectures supplements my Spring 2014 section of ENG 201: Principles of Literary Study. This eighth set of lectures reviews our material on queer studies and literary criticism. In this final installment, I walk us through some suggestive passages in /Mrs. Dalloway/ and attempt, a la Sedgwick, to smuggle some queer energies and representation into the novel. The point is not to "out" Septimus as "gay" -- though I am more and more convinced that he and Evans were lovers -- but to show that many of the same concerns that "haunt" Sedgwick and Edelman and others certainly haunt this novel as well: the problem of the future, of normativity, of violence, of illness, of death, and of spaces of freedom and sustenance. What follows is something of an extension of Haffey's argument concerning Clarissa Dalloway and Sally Seton's "exquisite moment."
