The ideal and most powerful time to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet is at 3:00 p.m., known as the ""Hour of Great Mercy,"" as it commemorates the moment Jesus died on the cross. However, the chaplet can be prayed at any time of the day or night.
The Hour of Mercy (3:00 p.m.)
Jesus requested through Saint Faustina Kowalska that the faithful implore His mercy at 3:00 p.m. daily, especially for sinners. At this specific hour, Jesus promised to refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Him in virtue of His Passion. This time is considered especially powerful because mercy triumphed over justice at that moment of His agony and death.
When praying at this hour, you are encouraged to:
Pause briefly to meditate on Christ's Passion and death.
If possible, make the Stations of the Cross or briefly visit the Blessed Sacrament in a chapel.
Recite the chaplet with the specific intention of invoking God's mercy for yourself and the whole world, particularly for poor sinners. ​
