Описание: لقطات نادرة لمدينتي القاهرة والاسكندرية حوالي عام ١٩٣٠. اللقطات هي جزء من فيلم صامت التقطه سائحان امريكيان خلال رحلة شهر العسل. يعرض لنا التسجيل مناظر عامة وطبيعية من الشوارع في المناطق الشعبية حيث نري المارة البسطاء والمتاجر الصغيرة علي جانبي الطريق وهي صورة من الماضي مختلفة تماما عن الانطباعات المثالية التي تقدمها لنا صور الصفوة المتعلمة من نفس الفترة.

1- محطة القطار في مدينة الاسكندرية
2- منظر عام للقاهرة الاسلامية حيث نري القلعة وجامع محمد علي من بعد.
3- لقطة لفندق شبرد من الخارج
4- جولة خلال بازارات القاهرة الشعبية وهي اكثر اجزاء الفيلم اثارة حيث تعطينا فكرة جيدة عن شكل الحياة اليومية للعامة خلال اوائل الثلاثينات من القرن العشرين. معظم المارة من الرجال والنساء يرتدون ازياء شعبية بينما لا تظهر البذلة الاوربية الا بشكل عارض. اللقطات مفرطة في الواقعية لدرجة انها ترينا بوضوح احدي السيدات المبرقعات وهي تتشاجر مع الجزار حول وزن اللحمة!

A silent movie which is a part of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology collection. Producers are named to be Arthur and Kate Tode, an American couple who spent their honeymoon in Egypt. The movie records scenes of Alexandria and Cairo in 1930. Such scenes are considered one of the rarest for those two cities , since I do not know of any comparable footage that survived till today.
The film has shoots of the following locations:
1- The trains station in Alexandria
2- A remote shoot for Salah Eldin citadel and Mohamed Ali mosque in Cairo
3- The Shepered hotel and the street infront of it.
4- A tour into the bazzars of Islamic Cairo. This is actually the most fascinating part of the movie since it records the reality of the lower class daily life in the most natural and informal way. We are faced by ordinary men , woman and childern going through the streets and looking with some curusioty into the camera of the photographer. Marchents are shown selling their goods and in one shoot a local woman seems to be quarling with the butcher about the wieght of meat! All poeple are dressed in public Egyptian costumes, woman are vialed, some people are shown barefoot and only few persons are wearing European outfits.
5- A visit to the Island of Roda where the Nilometer is located
6- More shoots of Mohamed Ali mosque in the citadel from inside.
7- Amr Bin Alas mosque
8- The site of Memphis with its pharonic monuments
9- The Giza plateau and a ride by camels for the tourists
10- Several buildings in Helpolios district of Cairo
