Maynard Ferguson's "BeBop Buffet" was recorded at the Newport Jazz Festival in the early 1980s.
The band kicks off with Charlie Parker's up-tempo "Koko" and then goes into Dizzy Gillespie's "Salt Peanuts," which DiBlasio "peppers" with a post-bop bari sax solo (followed by a scat vocal).
DiBlasio's influences include Pepper Adams, Nick Brignola and Ronnie Cuber (the ABCs of the Bari Sax).
