Описание: Toad in the Road: The Western Leopard Toad is endangered and endemic to Cape Town. Every year during breeding season ( July to Sept) they venture out to ponds to breed. On the way they must deal with predators, dogs, swimming pools where they become trapped, walls, houses with unfriendly owners and perhaps most fatal, the South African roads and their drivers! They face an uphill battle with many a slippery slope...Luckily, there is the Western Leopard Toad volunteer program and each year in the cold winter, these volunteers go out onto the streets to facilitate the toads as they cross en route to breed. They play a critical and visible role to the conservation of the species. Frogs are under huge threat the world over as they are extremely sensitive to toxins, which get absorbed through their sensitive skins.
